How to make friends online through shared interests
Meeting more people does not automatically mean finding close friends. Shared interests, respectful conversation and time often matter more than the number of messages you send.
Give people a conversation starter
Instead of writing only that you want to meet people, describe two or three things you genuinely enjoy. Specific hobbies, genres, books or activities make it easier to begin a conversation.
A profile that says 'I enjoy street photography and discussing old films' gives another person far more to respond to than a generic list of interests.
Look beyond the online indicator
Read the public parts of someone's profile and posts they have chosen to share. A topic they mentioned can be a useful opening, but do not assume you know them from a single post.
Being online does not mean someone is available to talk. Respect boundaries and avoid demanding immediate attention.
Ask one thoughtful question
A short message about a shared interest works better than a generic copied introduction. For example: 'You mentioned hiking — do you prefer day trips or longer routes?'
Share a little of your own experience after they respond. A conversation feels more natural when neither person is doing all the asking.
Let trust grow gradually
Friendship develops over repeated, comfortable exchanges, not a single positive reply. Be patient with different schedules, opinions and levels of openness.
You do not need to share your phone number, address or exact location to begin. Use Frenivo's friendship and audience controls when you feel ready.
