How to protect private conversations on Frenivo
Privacy involves both technology and everyday choices. Frenivo uses end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for private conversations, but understanding what it covers matters as much as using it.
What end-to-end encryption protects
E2EE encrypts the contents of a private message before transmission and decrypts it on an authorized device. The server does not need the readable contents of an ordinary private message to deliver it.
Public posts, comments and public mini-chat messages are different from encrypted private conversations. Do not assume every area of a social platform is encrypted end to end.
Metadata and user reports still matter
A service still needs certain delivery information, such as the participants and message timing. Encryption of content does not remove all metadata.
If a person reports a specific message, a decrypted copy of that reported content may be submitted from their device for moderation. That is not the same as staff being able to browse an entire private conversation.
Secure your devices and account access
Use a strong device screen lock and never share your Frenivo PIN, password or one-time code. Anyone who can unlock your device might be able to see what is displayed there.
Review trusted devices and revoke access when a device is lost or no longer yours. Confirm that any new device being added belongs to you.
Protect yourself in the conversation itself
Do not rush to share your address, banking information or identifying documents with someone you just met. Encryption cannot stop the recipient from copying what they can read.
When someone pressures you, requests money or acts abusively, use the available block and report controls rather than sharing more information.
